The Alliance reacted to the attack fleet on the Ukrainian warships, calling on Russia to immediately provide the Ukrainian Navy unhindered access to ports, informs mediaUA.

This was reported in the Twitter press-Secretary of the Alliance Oana Lungescu.

"NATO is closely monitoring the situation in the Azov sea and the Kerch Strait, and we are in touch with the Ukrainian authorities. We call for restraint and de-escalation", – quotes the statement by Lungescu of the Alliance.

In particular, the Russian boundary ship "the don" made a battering RAM of the Ukrainian Harbor tugs, which had damaged the main engine of the ship, the trim and railing, as well as lost on that raft.

While Navy APU emphasize that the intention to migrate was warned in advance and had acted within international law.

At the same time at the FSB, said that three Ukrainian warships in the sea of Azov "illegally entered the territorial waters of the Russian Federation and headed to the Kerch Strait".

The Ukrainian Navy has published legal commentary, pointing out that in accordance with articles 17, 38 of the UN Convention on the law of the sea and article 2 of the Agreement between Ukraine and the Russian Federation on cooperation in using the Azov sea and the Kerch Strait, military ships of Ukraine enjoy freedom of navigation in the Kerch Strait and sea of Azov, and this means that they can make a passage across the Kerch Strait at any time, subject to safety of navigation.
