All pirates captured 12 of the 19 crew members. MFA promises to find out what the authorities are doing for their release.

The Ukrainian sailor was captured by pirates in Nigeria, his fate unknown. Two more managed to fight back

In the Nigerian waters of the Bay on 22 September pirates attacked a merchant ship MV Glarus with 19 crew members. On the evening of 24 September, said the press service of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine, reports mediaUA.

Captured by the pirates hit 12 of 19 crew members. The boat is now parked near the city Port Harcourt in southern Nigeria. On Board were seven sailors, including two Ukrainians.

The Ministry of foreign Affairs has instructed the Embassy of Ukraine in Nigeria to establish contact with the owner of the vessel and the Nigerian security forces. Diplomats have to find out what the authorities are doing to release the kidnapped sailors. And to provide assistance to citizens of Ukraine, remaining on the ship.

The case is under special control of the Department of consular service of the MFA of Ukraine and Embassy of Ukraine in Nigeria.

Earlier media reports citing the Agency of the Nigerian Maritime administration and safety (NIMASA) said that Nigeria attacked the crew of a merchant ship. According to the report, captured by the pirates were citizens of six countries: the Philippines, Slovenia, Ukraine, Romania, Croatia and Bosnia.
