The national security Council and defence of Ukraine (NSDC) at a meeting on may 2 considered the introduction of personal economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions) in respect of legal entities and individuals related to the Russian aggression against Ukraine, and against whom was applied the relevant decisions of the governments of the US and the EU.

"Sanctions are imposed on the initiative of the Cabinet of Ministers, security Service, National Bank for three years or indefinitely, in respect of natural and legal persons involved in the Russian aggression against Ukraine, preparation and conduct of illegal voting in the occupied Crimea in the framework of presidential elections, representatives of the Russian occupation administration in Crimea, the fighters of the Russian armed forces in the occupied territory of Donetsk and Lugansk regions, and the like", – stated in the message.
The national security Council noted that sanctions imposed on persons involved in information and cyberaggression against Ukraine, for illegal action against citizens who are illegally detained in Russia, State Duma deputies and members of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the like.
In addition, it extended the sanctions applied in previous years.
"The Council also supported the proposals on termination of participation of Ukrainian representatives in the activities of the CIS bodies, and instructed the foreign Ministry to adopt, as appropriate measures for the termination of certain bilateral agreements", – stated in the press service of the NSDC.
In this case the message does not specify a list of individuals and entities against whom sanctions will be imposed, and any other details of the decisions taken.
However, as the press service of the President of Petro Poroshenko, the NSDC decision of new sanctions coordinated with the US sanctions against citizens and legal entities of the Russian Federation.
"They are associated with the use of chemical weapons in the heart of Europe – the actions of the Russian Federation in the UK, and with the illegal conduct of presidential elections on the territory of the occupied Crimea", – said the head of state.
"It's very important, I would like to emphasize that the previous sanctions, which still continue, clearly synchronized with our European Union partners, the United States of America. With all the global Pro-Ukrainian coalition.
