The production of electricity in the United energy system (UES) of Ukraine in January-March 2018 increased by 3.8%.

Electricity production increased by 1 billion 632,7 million kWh compared with the same period of 2017 to 44 billion 542,6 million kWh.

Nuclear power plant (NPP) during this period reduced the generation of electricity by 7.6% to 21 billion 982,9 million kWh.

In particular, the electricity production at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plants amounted to 10 billion 201,7 million kWh (-3,9% compared to January-March-2018), South Ukraine – 4 billion 991,9 million kWh (+4%), Rivne – 3 billion 481,9 million kWh (-13,2%), Khmelnytsky – 3 billion 307.4 mln kWh (-24%).

Thermal power plants (TPP) and combined heat and power (CHP) and cogeneration unit (CU) has increased its production by 16.1% to 17 billion 613,9 million kWh.

In particular, generating companies thermal power plant increased its production of 18.7% to 13 billion 188.8 mln kWh, CHP and CU – 9%, to 4 billion 425,1 million kWh.

In the context of the civil thermal power station "DTEK Zakhidenergo" developed 4,413 billion kWh (+9.1%), the "DTEK Dniproenergo" – 2 billion 965,3 million kWh (+9,5%), "Tsentrenergo" – 2 billion 487,1 million kWh (+30,1%), "DTEK Vostokenergo" – 2 billion 283,1 million kWh (+8.2 percent), "Donbasenergo" – 1 billion of 40.4 million kWh (+3.1%).

Hydro and pumped-storage power plant (HPP and PSPP) in January-March 2018 increased production by 27% – to 4 billion 35.7 million kWh, the block-stations – on 3%, to 377,3 million kWh.

Electricity production from non-traditional sources (wind farms, SES, biomass) for the first quarter increased by 29.5% to 532,8 million kWh.

The share of NPPs in production of electricity amounted to 49.4% (January-March 2017 – 55,4%), TPP, TPP and KU – 39.5 per cent (35.4 per cent), hydro and pumped storage – a 9.1% (7,4%), the block-stations – 0,8% (0,9%), alternative sources – 1,2% (1,0).

The production of electricity in IPS of Ukraine in March 2018 increased by 14.8% (1 billion 966,6 million kWh) compared to the same month in 2017 – up to 15 billion 259,6 million kWh.

In addition, thermal energy in January-March 2018 rose by 7.6% (844,8 thousand Gcal) compared to the same period last year to 11 million 893,5 thousand Gcal.

As reported, electricity generation in the UES of Ukraine in 2017, increased by 0.4% (596.8 million kWh) compared to 2016 year – on-year to 155 billion 414,2 million kWh.
