The project "Northern stream-2" involves the construction of two pipelines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas off the coast of Russia through the Baltic sea to Germany. The construction cost is estimated at 9.5 billion euros. The pipeline is expected before the end of 2019.

Initially it was assumed that the share in the project will receive Engie, OMV, Royal Dutch Shell, Wintershall and Uniper. However, last spring with them signed an agreement on the new funding model. The agreement means that European companies will provide long-term financing 50% of the total cost of the project, ie 950 million euros.
