Almost a third of Ukrainians polled by the Center for social and marketing research "Sotsis", support the idea of giving the Ecumenical Patriarch of the status of autocephaly of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, every fifth does not.

So to the question "How do you feel about the provision by the Ecumenical Patriarch of the status of autocephaly of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church?" 31,7% said they would support such a decision, 20,6% - that is not supported, and 7.4% think that this should be done together with the UOC (Moscow Patriarchate).
However, 21.5% of the respondents answered that they are not interested, and still 18,8% are unable to answer.
A sociological study was conducted from 19 to 25 April 2018. Method of collection of primary sociological information - standardized interview "face-to-face" at the place of residence of the respondents. The survey was conducted on a sample representing adult population of Ukraine in General, on grounds such as: gender, age (18 years) and type of settlement (urban/rural). All were interviewed 3000 respondents, the average duration of one interview was 22 minutes.

19 April, BP has supported the appeal of President Petro Poroshenko to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew on granting the Ukrainian Orthodox Church autocephaly.
April 22, Poroshenko said that the Ecumenical Patriarchate proceeded to consideration of the request of Ukraine.
