As the operator of a ferry company "Maritime administration", the ferries may stop running due to strong winds.

Previously, the carrier warned of a predicted deterioration of weather conditions – the increase in wind speed up to 20-22 meters per second.

"In this period (3 and 4 February ) the work of Kerch ferry crossing will be at actual weather conditions", – stated in the message on the website of the company.

In the Crimean Department of EMERCOM of Russia reported that with the passing of atmospheric frontal sections of the Mediterranean cyclone 3, 4 and the night of 5 February in the Crimea is expected severe weather conditions: the strengthening of the South-West changing to North-Western wind of 15-20 m/s, gusts up to 25 m/s. Forecasters promised day 4 and night 5 Feb strong, sometimes very heavy precipitation.

Ferry crossing through the Kerch Strait is the main transport artery that connects annexed Crimea with the Krasnodar territory of neighboring Russia.

According to Ukrainian legislation, the entry to the Crimea through the Kerch ferry is prohibited and amounts to a violation of the procedure of crossing the state border.
