This was stated by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, opening a joint hearing of the committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on foreign Affairs, on European integration and on national security and defence on the topic: "Approximation of Ukraine to NATO standards: obstacles and achievements. The status of implementation of Annual national program of cooperation under the auspices of the Commission Ukraine-NATO and the Strategic defence Bulletin of Ukraine".

"We recognize that the threat posed by Putin is a threat not only for Ukraine. It is a threat to the free world, for the entire global security system. Therefore, for the Ukrainian boys and girls on the front, for the whole of Ukraine is extremely important to know that we are not alone, that we hold a threat not only to Ukraine but to the entire free world," - said paruby added: "And everyone understands that the threat to Putin applies to the European Union and the Euro-Atlantic space. Therefore, the question of collective security is a key issue. NATO is the only organization in the world able to stop the aggressor".
"Ukraine today can be not just a candidate, not just the applicant in NATO and a reliable and strong ally of the Alliance", - said the head of the Ukrainian Parliament.
According to him, "today Ukrainian army has become one of the most powerful armies of Europe, gained combat experience, which is shared with the partners of the Alliance."
The politician expressed confidence that the cooperation between NATO and Ukraine can and must move to a new level. While Parubiy noted that "we must fulfil our commitments and 2020 to reach NATO standards in the Ukrainian security system. However today, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, "we can say that there are many positive in the way of cooperation."
According to Parubiy, the "Parliament, which is a reliable partner of the Armed forces of Ukraine, very clearly and consistently defends the position of Ukraine's membership in NATO." He recalled that on June 8, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine took a historic decision, according to which Ukraine's membership in NATO is determined by the priority of the foreign policy of the state.

Parubiy expressed his gratitude to the permanent delegation of the Verkhovna Rada on the NATO parliamentary Assembly, which had successfully negotiated and actually made decisions that were supported and implemented its initiative about carrying out in Ukraine of one of the following sessions of the Assembly: "we Must pay tribute to our delegation, working in the NATO PA and today we can say that in the spring of 2020, Ukraine will be a PA meeting of the North Atlantic Alliance".
At the same time, the head of the Parliament stressed that the problem points on the way of Ukraine's membership in the Alliance will find their decisions, and the Parliament this question will always display the active position. "I am confident that today's inter-Committee hearings will be another important step towards adaptation of the Ukrainian legislation and the Ukrainian security sector General NATO standards", - concluded the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Parubiy and wished the participants fruitful and efficient work.
The hearing was attended by MPs of Ukraine, representatives of Executive authorities of Ukraine, scientific-expert community, public organizations, mass media and diplomatic corps.
