The world wildlife Fund (WWF) and the nature protection Union of Germany (NABU) to urge German Chancellor Angela Merkel, CSU Chairman Horst Seehofer and leader of the SPD, Martin Schulz, to prohibit the construction of the pipeline "Nord stream-2", according to the publication Der Tagesspiegel, reports mediaUA with reference to zn.ua.
"Experts NABU and WWF believe that Nord Stream 2 is the stub for the fight against climate change, is threatening the fragile ecosystem of the Baltic sea and destroys solidarity and trust within the European Union", - said in the letter environmentalists.

They believe that the procedural error and the lack of transparency in the construction of the pipeline "goes against the credibility of the policy of Germany and contribute to the frustration of the population".
The authors urge politicians not only to distance themselves from the construction of the Russian gas pipeline Nord Stream 2, but to appoint and to conduct an independent environmental review of this project.
In addition, environmentalists announced that they are ready to achieve closure of the pipeline "Nord stream-2" through the court.

The project "Northern stream-2" involves the construction of two pipelines to bypass Ukraine with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas off the coast of Russia through the Baltic sea to Germany. Nord Stream AG 2, dealing with construction planning, belongs to the Russian "Gazprom" of 100%. Earlier it was reported that half the cost of the pipeline to Fund five European oil and gas companies - Shell, OMV, Engie, Uniper and Wintershall. "Nord stream-2" has received the first partial solution in Germany. According to experts of the analytical center of REKK, the scenario of gas supply in the "Nord stream-2" can increase the gap between gas prices in Western and Eastern Europe until 2020.
